The relationship among summer atmospheric boundary layer height over the Taklimakan Desert, its land surface parameters and Eurasian circulation

Abstract To investigate the relationship among summer atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) over Taklimakan Desert (TD), its land surface parameters and large scale meteorological field, Urumqi Institute of Meteorology China Meteorological Administration conducted a comprehensive observation in Tazhong, hinterland TD from July 1 to 31, 2016. The correlations between ABL height sensible heat, latent air temperature, turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) buoyancy term are analyzed by using observed GPS sounding data, micro data ERA5 reanalysis so as study correlation Eurasian circulation field. research results indicate: (1) does not fully correspond with variation tendency heat flux. In addition advection residual mixed (RML) also crucial factor influencing ABL. (2) TKE is consistent variation, coefficient 0.62. Hence equation expressed as: Y = 1609.2 X 4 – 12,828 3 + 35,617 2 –39,514 15,858. (3) When quite high, 500 hPa altitude Xinjiang mostly controlled anticyclone circulation, easterly low level jet (LLJ) tends be formed at 850 next night. (4) high areas temperature field Balkash Lake region. Significant positive identified 850, 700, above regions. maximum reaches 0.7. deepens understanding process TD, circulation.
